https://www.brookwoodhighschool.net/index2.jsp This website is for a very large high school outside of Atlanta. Conveniently, I went that high school. The main website shows overview information on the school and information on public events in the community. You can see the school newsletter, some important links for parents/students, and the accolades of the school. On the senior class page there is more specific and relevant information to that specific grade. I would use a similar website in my classroom. This is the main website for the school which is a great place to start. As a teacher I would take it a step further and make a website that looked similar for my specific classroom. This way students and parents have a place where they can see specific assignments that are relevant to their day to day education. In the tech sandbox last week I learned more about smart boards and how they can be used in a classroom. I would use the smart board to teach math and then I c...

ILP #1

Particpation: 1. For my ILP I watched the lynda course titled "Learning to be more promotable". The course consisted of a bunch of really short videos that added up to about an hour. I completed the entire course on Tuesday Febuary 27th. I watched 3-4 videos at a time throughout the day.  2. These screenshots show the first two sections (there were 5 total) after completing these first two sections I realized it's best to watch each section as a whole and then reflect on it and then start the next section later. This is exactly how I would structure the use of a lynda course in my classroom. Despite the fact that I picked this course because I wanted the content for my own development, I still learned how to use Lynda in an educational setting. 3. There is not a product from this lynda course but I did learn a lot of skills that I can use moving forward in my career. I really learned the difference between just ok interactions with superiors and great interactions with...

I think many web 2.0 technologies can be useful in the classroom. Different tools can be used at different grade levels for different things. It is impossible to say that some tools work and some tools don't because every classroom is so different. An example of a web 2.0 technology that can be useful in classrooms is quizlet. Quizlet can be used for many different age groups. A web 2.0 technology tool that would not be useful in most classrooms is craigslist. I have used desmos a lot throughout my education. It is a math website mainly used for graphing. You can type in any equation and it plots it on a graph. This is useful in a classroom because it is free and not every student can afford a graphing calculator. It is also useful because it can be projected for the whole room to see unlike a graphing calculator. However, it is easier to use than most calculators and is rarely used during exams. This could be a problem who know how to do something on desmos but not with their ca...

Twitter is going pretty well so far. I am already very familiar with twitter. I have been using it for about 6 years. It is really beneficial to see what other people in the class are thinking and doing. It has been a great way to stay connected with each other. I am not sure how  I am going to use twitter in my future career. I'm currently in the stage of life where I want to hide my twitter from my potential employers. The digital divide effects a lot of kids and I don't think we realize how much of a problem it is. I think socio economic status is the main factor that plays into the digital divide. We often assume everyone has equal access but if you dig deeper that really isn't the case. A lot of kids do not have access to computers, iphones, ipads, and other technology we use in education. I think the student software I am going to use the most is photoshop. If I do go into education it will most likely be in the arts and that is the most widely used platform. This...

I feel the most prepared to use standard RHST.7 and standard SL.5 because I have the most experience with them. I love history and I have taken a lot of history courses so I'm familiar with using multimedia resources in history. I took AP U.S. history in high school and most of our subject matter was on finding and evaluating historical documents. Standard SL.5 is pretty easy for me because I am a very visual learner so I already do this for myself. I use a lot of different forms of media in my notes for my classes. I think it is the best way to learn. Two things I learned through making the news letter are the columns and the hyperlinking. I knew it was possible to do these things, but I didn't realize how easy/useful it was. I'm sure I could have figured it out if my life depended on it but it was a super easy skill to learn in class. I really liked the assignment because it was a super useful way to play around and learn about word. I can use these skills in my own edu...
