Blog Post 4

Twitter is going pretty well so far. I am already very familiar with twitter. I have been using it for about 6 years. It is really beneficial to see what other people in the class are thinking and doing. It has been a great way to stay connected with each other. I am not sure how  I am going to use twitter in my future career. I'm currently in the stage of life where I want to hide my twitter from my potential employers.

The digital divide effects a lot of kids and I don't think we realize how much of a problem it is. I think socio economic status is the main factor that plays into the digital divide. We often assume everyone has equal access but if you dig deeper that really isn't the case. A lot of kids do not have access to computers, iphones, ipads, and other technology we use in education.

I think the student software I am going to use the most is photoshop. If I do go into education it will most likely be in the arts and that is the most widely used platform. This is a more advanced software that can be used with high school and college students. I am probably going to use geogebra the least because I hate geometry and I do not understand it.

Adaptive technologies can support many diverse learners. The main point of adaptive technologies are to translate information into a medium that makes it accessible to someone. For my independent learning project I created a "meet your teacher day" flyer in photoshop. I used creative commons images from bing for the graphics and created the text on my own. I used a different different lay for each section of text so that I could manipulate the spacing, font size, font, and colors.

I think the flipped classroom can be a good idea in a few circumstances but it usually does not work. It is very difficult to engage students outside of the classroom. I think teachers often use the flipped classroom to save time but if a flipped classroom is done correctly, the lesson planning should take longer than the average lesson. https://www.ted.com/talks/salman_khan_let_s_use_video_to_reinvent_education this ted talk gives a good perspective on flipped classroom I really liked the powerpoint assignments. I did not realize how easy it was to add audio into a powerpoint. I really liked this feature because it made my powerpoint more effective because I could explain myself more.
